Alex Whitcomb remembers that he didn’t know how to react to the September 11th attacks in 2001. Still in high school, his first thought was “will I still have to go to school today?” He couldn’t yet comprehend the scale of the tragedy that was unfolding, and it wasn’t clear how a terrorist attack or declaration of war would affect daily life.
