First UK paper to use Apple Macintosh for graphics

Michael Crozier describes developing the visual style for The Independent and pioneering new technical methods for the paper, such as using Apple MacIntosh computers for graphics (they were the first paper the UK, and possibly in all of Europe to do so). He remembers that owner Andreas Whittam Smith called this the most difficult part of launching the paper, although it has since been largely forgotten.
