I would have starved if I was only reporting

Karin Kneissl talks about the boom in industrial innovation and production in Europe before World War I, and how the continent has shifted deindustrialized in recent decades. She also discusses how it is extremely difficult to make a living as a journalist today, and how one’s income must be supplemented by other forms of work. The lack of compensation for financial risk has taken its toll, replacing journalism with communication.
