Ellis Act evictions devastating to seniors and disabled

Dean Preston has spent his career fighting for tenants rights, and says that the 1985 Ellis Act, which allows California landlords to evict residents to “go out of the rental business”, has hit the vulnerable–such as senior citizens and the disabled–particularly hard. It has also threatened the working class, the artistic community, and African American and Latino neighborhoods.
