I wouldn’t be able to move to the Castro today

Supervisor Scott Wiener describes moving from Philadelphia to San Francisco in 1997. At the time he was found his rent for a single bedroom apartment outrageously expensive at $1050, double what he was paying in Philadelphia. Today he would be paying $3500 at market rate, and claims he would not be able to move into the neighborhood unless he moved in with several roommates.
